Where the obsession began.
APEX started the way most great things do — with a deep passion and a problem to solve. Our founders spent years hunting coins at shows, estate sales, and private collections, frustrated by the lack of transparency and excitement in traditional auction formats.
When live streaming emerged as a platform for authentic, real-time connection, we saw the opportunity immediately. We brought the thrill of the auction floor directly to collectors' homes — with expert commentary, real grades, and no smoke and mirrors.
Today, APEX is one of the most-watched live numismatic auction shows on WhatNot, trusted by thousands of collectors across the country for our authenticity, depth of knowledge, and the quality of every single lot we put on the block.

Nicholas Weyand
Nearly six years in numismatics and counting. His coin of choice? The 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter — a design so bold the Mint had to dial it back within a year.
Jacob Kolodziej
Collecting coins since childhood, Jacob has spent the last 4½ years turning that lifelong passion into a career — and his favorite part is connecting with the Apex community.
Alex Marlow
A 15-year collector with a love for world and ancient coins, Alex traded Division I water polo and soccer for numismatics — and hasn't stopped learning since.
Nicholas Weyand
Nicholas has been in numismatics for nearly six years and he'll tell you exactly what coin has his heart without missing a beat — the 1916 and early 1917 Type I Standing Liberty Quarter. His words: it was "too hot for its time." A coin so boldly designed that the Mint had to dial it back within a year. That's the kind of history that keeps him hooked.
Outside of coins, Nicholas is in the kitchen experimenting with whatever dish he hasn't tried yet — new cuisines, unfamiliar techniques, ambitious weeknight cooking. He's also the Dungeon Master for his D&D group, which mostly means spending hours building elaborate worlds and then watching his "group of degenerates" creatively dismantle everything he planned. He wouldn't have it any other way.
And if you really want to see Nicholas in his element, find the nearest karaoke bar. He's there for the music, sure — but mostly he's there for the moment someone stops overthinking it and just screams their favorite song into the mic. That's the good stuff.
Jacob Kolodziej
Jacob has been collecting coins his entire life, and for the past 4½ years he's had the chance to turn that passion into a career in the numismatic industry. He genuinely loves the coins he gets to share and sell — but one of his favorite parts of the job is connecting with all the amazing people who join the streams.
Outside of work, Jacob is usually gaming, out with a camera working on his photography, or spending time around animals. He's also always digging deeper into coins and collecting itself, treating the hobby as something to keep learning about even after four and a half years in the industry.
Jacob is always looking to learn something new and share his passion for coins with the Apex community.
Alex Marlow
Alex's passion for coin collecting began 15 years ago with world silver, and since then his interest has grown to cover coins from around the world and from the ancient world. Two favorites stand out: the 8 Reales "Globes and Pillars" and the Chinese Dragon Dollar, both prized for the history and artistry that make collecting so fascinating to him.
Before numismatics, Alex played five years of Division I water polo and soccer and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He's also an avid traveler, having visited more than 15 countries to explore different cultures and try new cuisines along the way.
Today, working at Apex, Alex enjoys learning something new every day and expanding his knowledge of world and ancient coins — made even more rewarding by the continued support of Apex's buyers and viewers. Outside of coins, he skis, plays soccer and basketball, draws, and takes long walks along the beaches of Southern California.
